Question and Answer Session

Program Overview:

In the United States, there are currently three licensed neurotoxins available with several more under investigation and likely to receive FDA approval in the next few years. While healthcare providers and consumers should welcome this expanding neurotoxin market, there is now an increased responsibility to become familiar with the variations and nuances among these products. Toward this end, Drs. Vic Narurkar and Rona Silkiss invite you to join them in conversation with pioneers of botulinum toxin for cosmetic use, Drs. Alastair and Jean Carruthers. Together they will outline the differences among neurotoxins with respect to dosing, spread, precision, predictability and onset of results.

Objectives:

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Differentiate among neurotoxins and their MOA
  • Explain the difference in dosage strength (potency) expressed in “Units” among the botulinum toxin products
  • Recognize that clinical doses expressed in units are not interchangeable from one product to another
  • Identify the potential for adverse effects following administration of botulinum toxins

Target Audience:

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of core specialty physicians who are currently or will be performing facial aesthetic procedures using botulinum toxin.
