Cadaver Dissection

Program Overview:

The Human Cadaver Facial Dissection Workshop for Aesthetic Physicians is a full face and neck procedural anatomy course providing practicing physicians hands-on experience exploring the complex anatomic structures of the face and neck. Fresh-frozen heads will be used to examine anatomic planes, fascia, muscles, arteries and veins. Utilizing small groups in a medical school environment, facial plastic surgeons will guide attendees through a dissection of the face and neck emphasizing both standard and evolving cosmetic injection sites.

Objectives:

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Describe the anatomy of the upper face, lower face, eye and neck.
  • Identify the functional aspect of facial muscles, including surface landmarks.
  • Differentiate between aesthetic agents.
  • Select the appropriate agent for the area to be treated.
  • Identify anatomical ‘danger zones’ which may result in adverse events or permanent injury if injected improperly.
  • Discuss the anatomical rationale behind poor injection outcomes, including recommendations for suitable corrections.
  • Perform injections for a range of indications.

Target Audience:

A course for Dermatologists, Plastic Surgeons, Otolaryngologists and Ophthalmologists offering enhanced facial anatomy instruction designed to bridge the knowledge gap between these specialties and expert facial plastic surgeons.
